Clock Tower built in 1926 by architect and Sutan Yazin Gigi Ameh. Laying the first stone construction by Rook Maker's first son who was then 6 years old. Clock was built as a gift from the Dutch Queen to Rook Maker.
From the tower Clock Tower, the tourists can see the panoramic town of Bukittinggi hills, valleys and buildings lined up in the middle of the city who loves to pass up.
Bukittinggi distinctive symbols and West Sumatra has a story and unique in its history. This can be traced from the ornament on the Clock Tower. In the Dutch colonial period, this clock ornament round and on it stands a statue of a rooster. During the Japanese occupation, ornaments hours turned into pagoda. Whereas in the period after independence, re-shaped ornament with a shape change gonjong Minangkabau traditional house.
The figures on the clock also is unique. Number four in Roman numerals are usually written with the IV, but at the Clock Tower written by IIII.
